Emerging shoegaze band she’s green has been growing their fanbase of listeners with their dreamy, reverb-soaked soundscapes. Hailing from Miennapolis, the five-piece received much recognition for their debut singles, “river” and “smile again,” and became a staple in the Midwestern alternative scene. Forming while in college, she’s green was initially started by vocalist Zofia Smith, guitarists Liam Armstrong and eventually filled in through jam sessions with guitarists Liam Armstrong and Raines Lucas, bassist Teddy Nordvold, and drummer Kevin Seebeck. “We’d always overhear each other making music and we were just like whoa okay this could really work,” Smith shared, “I was doing more of like synth bedroom-pop type of stuff and Liam was really into the guitar and getting into shoegaze at the time.” Last year, she’s green garnered recognition for their self-produced debut EP ‘Wisteria’, leading to getting signed to Photo Finish Records and this year’s tour with glixen. Their latest single, “Graze” gives a glimpse of the style of new music that band has planned to release this year.
she’s green spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about their organic formation while playing impromptu gigs in their college apartment and finding their sound. They talk about how the various 90s alternative bands like Ride, Lush and others inform their music, upcoming plans and more.
