As is the story with many artists who accidentally go viral on TikTok, it was December 2023 that Good Neighbours posted a clip of them in their home studio performing the song “Home” as a “rough idea”. The duo of Oli Fox (vocals, guitar) and Scott Verrill (guitar/keyboards) knew they were onto something and posted a recording of it early January 2024, and the rest is history.
“Home” garnered millions of streams, was certified RIAA Platinum and saw them tour the world with just a handful of songs that were encapsulated on their self-titled EP, which was released this past fall. Good Neighbours melds the strengths of Fox and Verrill, both of who had individual solo careers as artists and producers prior to joining forces. Finding commonalities in their professional experiences, they also bonded over their similar indie influences such as Foster The People, MGMT, Passion Pit and Bleachers. They recently released “Ripple,” to kick off 2025 via Capitol Records. Speaking on the track, the duo reveals “Ripple was written about a close friend going through grief. They felt overwhelmed by the feeling and would sink into themselves. This song is about pulling your loved ones out of that deep place.”. Good Neighbours is currently on tour opening for Foster The People and have plans to release more new music that will culminate in their debut album later this year.
Good Neighbours spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about how their individual solo careers prior helped them with forming the band, 2010s Indie Influences, their upcoming debut album and more.
