Suwanee Hulaween sets the bar high for all arts and music festivals

After four days inside a magically eerie forest, it is hard to imagine a better Halloween Festival than Suwanee Hulaween. The enormous Florida swamps decorated by mossy oak trees, beautifully border the Suwannee River creating a naturally spooky setting. Intricately adorned campgrounds and RVs by visitors enhanced the Halloween atmosphere. During the day time, campers were able to swim and canoe in the river, ride around bikes trails and dance around the park. At night, all the costumes came out as the hocus pocus began.

The music and arts festival featured daily sets by The String Cheese Incident and many other artists across genres. Starting early in the day, reggae, rock, rap, blues, electronic and bluegrass would take turn at stages across the venue. The most memorable performances included Clozee, Walker and Royce, Steel Pulse, Bassnectar, Tchami, Nobide and Charlesthefirst.

Most impressive, Spirit Lake located in the center of the festival was what greatly made Hulaween special. This thick area of the swamp forest held most of the magic. Incredible art installations, unrealistic performers and a lake surrounded by all sorts of interactive spots transformed at night. Hundreds of projectors created illusions on gigantic installations giving life to statues and inanimate objects. Additionally, the area housed a casino, haunted houses, a silent disco and the Incendia stage. During downtimes, it was natural to flock towards actual Spirit Lake. The small body of water memorized with countless illusions displayed from projectors on to water fountains in the middle of the lake further enhanced by surround sound audio of forest animals.

Needless to say, it wont be our last time attending this captivating place.
