Los Angeles singer-songwriter and musician Adam Melchor just released his new EP ‘Melchor Lullaby Hotline Vol. 1’ and if you’ve been keeping up with him since the start of the pandemic, some of the music probably sounded very familiar. Melchor took a unique approach in releasing this body of songs, setting up the Melchor Lullaby Hotline where he delivered a new song to fans each Sunday since the beginning of lockdowns. At its peak, Melchor’s hotline had almost 10,000 fans listening in, with Melchor releasing 44 songs over the course of the year. This charming idea shows the care and dedication Melchor takes not only with crafting his music, but also in crafting a relationship with his listeners. “It was good to get those honest reactions,” Melchor stated, “I was basically able to do a focus group of my songs and put out the ones that did the best. With this release, I feel like these are the best ones. It takes a little of the pressure off.”
‘Melchor Lullaby Hotline Vol. 1’ has already received widespread praise, and even after a first listen it’s clear to see why. This indie-folk collection harnesses the intimacy of the acoustic guitar and the quiet contemplation of those long months Melchor spent perfecting his lyricism in isolation. Also included on the EP is his cover of “I’m Not Okay” originally done by My Chemical Romance. Of the song, he stated, “at the beginning of the pandemic, I was listening to things that give me comfort,” Melchor described how it might’ve fit on the EP, “it felt good and it was getting a good reaction and it was like comfort food. The song is so well-written that it could really be done in any way.”

To celebrate the release of the album, Adam Melchor will embark on a 10 date socially-distanced tour with indie rockers Flipturn throughout the Southeastern US. Melchor sat down with B-Sides host Pete Mar to talk about his plans for 2021, the making of the EP, dating apps and more.
