VIDEO: INTERVIEW – The Vices Share Their Favorite Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist, Talk New Album ‘Before It Might Be Gone’

Dutch quartet, The Vices recently released their third studio album, ‘Before It Might Be Gone’ in February. Capturing their exciting brand of garage rock, the album touches upon the journey of change, as lead singer Floris van Luijtelaar stated the tracks are “woven with shame, fear, hope, happiness, and unconditional love.” The album is sonically raw fusing Britpop, indie, psychedelic blues, and surf rock.

Hailing from Groningen, Netherlands, The Vices have carved out a notable reputation for their live performances. The band describes their live performances as “mind and body in music” that they consider a significant aspect of their identity. Consisting of Floris van Luijtelaar (vocals/guitar), Simon Bleeker (bass), Jonathan Kruizenga (guitar/keys), and Mathijs Louwsma (drums), The Vices were formed in 2019 by Luijtelaar, Bleeker, and Louwsma, who were bandmates in Ten Years Today until its dissolution.

The Vices spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about their new album, ‘Before It Might Be Gone’ and what informs their sound. They debate on their favorite guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, thoughts on Los Angeles and more.
