VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Jordana Talks Carving Out Identity From TV Girl Collabs, Shares Affinity For Coldplay

The latest album by Jordana, ‘Lively Premonition’ dropped late last year to much critical acclaim. Inspired by the sonics of the 70s smooth vibes of The Carpenters, Steely Dan and songwriting of Carole King and other folk artists, the album puts Jordana’s vocals at the forefront. “The whole record is this mixed bag of tricks with plenty of cheeky lyrical and instrumental decisions,” Jordana stated. “We’re taking tons of risks here.” The album reflects a balance of embellished stories related to her lived experiences of crumbling relationships, a newfound sobriety, finding a place in a new city and people to help build it with her. “It’s about the cycle of love, heartbreak, lust, party-going, self acceptance, connections, and rediscovering yourself over and over again,” says Jordana about the album’s themes. The results of these therapy sessions often exist at two poles: glitzed out parties like tracks “Raver Girl” and “Multitudes of Mystery” or golden hour ballads like “Anything For You” and “The One I Knew.” “Maybe it’s my LA record,” she shared. “I can’t pinpoint exactly what affected it, but I do think the sun has its beam on me. Through all of these releases, it’s so cool to see which eras I’ve gone through and what I’ve experimented with,” says Jordana.

Jordana spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about her favorite Coldplay album, touring, keeping her own identity outside of her collaboration with TV Girl, how she wanted to focus on her vocals on her latest album ‘Lively Premonition’ and more.
