VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Adrian Lyles Shares Advice Olivia Rodrigo Gave Him, Talks First Tour, “King of Everything”

Emerging singer/songwriter Adrian Lyles released his new single, “King of Everything,” Friday via Hollywood Records. The song’s release coincided with the first night of his first-ever tour, opening for almost monday on their North American run. After releasing a handful of upbeat tracks, “King of Everything” is more reflective, featuring stripped back production and raw vocals as he tackles his anxieties on self-worth and purpose. “’King of Everything’ is my definition of self reflection,” Lyles stated. “The entire song is about constantly competing with yourself in everything you do, to a level that could become unhealthy.”

Growing up outside of Dallas, Texas, Lyles got into music at just three years old, taking piano lessons. While he was introduced to music from Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Kate Bush, and Whitney Houston by his parents, he would later discover his favorite artists and inspirations such as Twenty One Pilots, Dominic Fike, and Jon Bellion. As he got older, he would perform as much as possible, including numerous benefit concerts while attending Booker T. Washington High School of Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. The pandemic and quarantine restrictions led Lyles to look into acting as an avenue to getting to the next level. After getting his feet wet in a handful of gigs locally, Lyles auditioned for and landed the role of “Jet” on Season 3 of Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in 2022. He contributed a handful of recordings to the show’s Official Soundtrack, that includes fan favorite “Right Place.”

Adrian Lyles speaks with B-Sides host Pete Mar about how surreal his start in music began with his role in ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’. He talks about the advice his co-star Olivia Rodrigo gave him, his latest music releases, including “King of Everything”, excitement for touring for the first time with almost Monday and more.
