VIDEO: INTERVIEW – The Red Pears Interview – Talk Camaraderie With Fans, Maturation As A Band

The Red Pears just wrapped up their North American headlining tour in support of their latest album ‘Better Late Than Never’. The album was released in April just ahead of their return to Coachella, and explores themes of getting older as well as the ups, downs, and in-betweens of life’s hard lessons learned along the way.

Inspired by bands of the early aughts, the songs on the album center around garage rock that rekindles its riotous and rebellious spark. Of those sonics, the band shared it’s a sound they’ve always gravitated towards, drummer Jose Corona stated, “I think the similar approach we were trying to go for was that 2000’s New York Revival Rock. I think that’s something that we both were big fans of- Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes to name a few.” Being of Hispanic descent also connected the band and the music they convey, “our parents being immigrants, all of us being first generation in the U.S., that’s a whole different layer,” Corona shared. “Your parents not having their dreams supported but them supporting your dreams, I think that’s something that we think about often and carry that with us on stage. Wherever we’re at, we always have that in the back of our minds, the support that we have from our parents.”

The Red Pears met up with B-Sides host Pete Mar about their recent successes this year, the bond between them and fans and more.
