Fusing Riot Grrrl and EDM is LA-based DJ and producer Nala. Currently on tour (we met her at Portola), Nala is taking her fusion of punk and techno across the United States. With inspirations such as Justice and Le Tigre, it makes sense as to why Nala coins herself as a “capsule” of the MySpace era. Her latest single “Spiritual Psychosis” is sinister and suspenseful, contrasted with her airy voice. On the topic of her own label Mi Domina, the DJ expressed her desire to “build a universe” around the indie dance sound, especially those who echo her own combination of Riot Grrrl and electronic.
