The Dare returned to the Bay Area Thursday night for a sold-out show at the New Parish in Oakland, CA. The line stretched around the corner from the venue as eager fans waited since the afternoon to get a good spot. The Dare made the wait more than worthwhile, opening with “Open Up” amidst a backdrop of multiple flashing lights as he moved around the stage in his trademark suit. Afterwards, he took a pause to note that he didn’t have a tie, prompting a fan to give him theirs. He proceeded to wear it for a bit before giving it back to the fan. The energy from The Dare (aka Harrison Smith) was infectious as he had the crowd dancing and singing, giving back the enthusiasm and energy back. A computer glitch caused a slight delay after “Perfume”, which gave people a chance to catch their breath after jumping, dancing and fist-pumping to the popular song. It wasn’t long until the tech crew resolved the issues and “I Destroyed Disco” got the crowd going. All throughout the night, The Dare was engaging and dancing right along with the crowd while belting out the lyrics to songs like “You’re Invited” and “Movement”. Ending the night with his signature track, “Girls”, The Dare had the audience go so hard that many left drenched in sweat yet grinning from ear to ear with memories of a killer show.
