Noting the many alternative rock bands from the Nashville area that includes Kings of Leon, Greta Van Fleet, Cage The Elephant and others, BabyJake is excited about the music scene, “I really hope that over time it just develops into more and more of this rock city. It’s one of the only places that you can still come to and record live. They still have a lot of old recording tactics that exist here, which I think is really important to keep around.” The new album contains many songs influenced by the local sounds, including “Lightning Yellow Hair,” “We, You and I” and the heartfelt “Don’t Hurt Me So Bad!” BabyJake shared on how it’s one of his favorite songs on the album, “that’s so Beatles. It felt really musical to me and I hope that people listen to it and hear it as a pop song because that’s what I want it to be recognized as.” BabyJake will hit the road in October in support of the album playing numerous U.S. cities before winding back up in Nashville November 16th.

BabyJake spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about the new album, recording it predominantly in his home studio, reflects on the lessons learned from the whirlwind of going viral and more.
