Magdalena Bay kicked off their fall tour at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA 09/03/2024. The duo performed many songs off their recently released album, ‘Imaginal Disk’ to a sold-out crowd who were eager to see the highly entertaining artists.

Starting off the show with three songs from the new LP, lead singer Mica Tenenbaum was theatrical and moved around to each side of the stage frequently, accompanied by Matthew Lewin and their backup musicians. The sold-out crowd knew the songs right from the get-go, leading with “She Looked Like Me!”, “Killing Time” and “Image”, the audience was singing along and dancing and didn’t let up. Songs from the duo’s seminal debut ‘Mercurial World’ were sprinkled throughout the set like “Secrets (Your Fire)” and “Chaeri” as were costume changes from Tenenbaum, whose outfits were colorful and added to the theatrics. Songs from ‘Imaginal Disk’ like “Fear, Sex”, “Love is Everywhere” and “That’s My Floor” were exciting to hear live for the first time and greatly enhanced when performed live. Ending the set dressed as an angel, Tenenbaum was just as energetic and vocally strong as she was at the start and bounced around the stage singing “The Beginning” that had the floor of the venue shaking and the audience sweating as they danced and sang along. Overall, the show was thoroughly entertaining and moreso, Magdalena Bay showed that not only is the recorded version of ‘Imaginal Disk’ incredible to listen to but sounds even better when performed live.
