On Friday August 16th, Wallows held an energetic show at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas. The Los Angeles-based band is currently on tour in support of their latest album, ‘Model’ that was released in May this year and have been performing at large amphitheaters to enthusiastic crowds across the U.S.
To kick off their set, the band played behind a black curtain for the first song “Do Not Wait,” from their debut album Nothing Happens (2019). Following up with Model (2024) lead single “Your Apartment,” which was proved to be a fan favorite from the audience’s excited cheers even from the lawn seating. Throughout the show, the setlist was littered with more fan favorites ranging from “Anytime, Always,” “Scrawny,” “At the End of the Day,” and “Uncomfortable.”
During one of their more mellow tracks, the crowd went ballistic as frontman Dylan Minnette (guitar, vocals, percussion) and Braeden Lemasters (guitar, vocals) moved out of the way as Cole Preston (drums, vocals) took center stage for “Quarterback”. Fans jumped and swayed to Preston’s captivating vocals on the 80s-eqsue lovesong. Shortly after, Minnette went into the crowd for a sweet serenade of “She’s an Actress” before the trio moved to a smaller B-Stage near the seated fans. The stage was decorated with two warm lamps, seating, and a few instruments including an acoustic guitar played by Minnette. General admission fans immediately swarmed the B-Stage as the trio held an intimate playing of “Pictures of Girls,” “OK,” and “Let the Sun In.” For the latter, Lemasters sang alone and wandered through the lively crowd as he made his way back to the main stage.

Once the full band was back on the main stage, the enthusiasm held strong as fans danced and sang along to Wallows’ first hit “Pleaser” from 2017. As the set came to a close, the band briefly left the stage before launching into their throwback hit “Are You Bored Yet?” (typically featuring Clairo) and “Only Ecstasy”. If possible, the entire venue, including lawn seating, vibrated and intensified during the encore. Minnette, Lemasters, and Preston gave their fans everything and more without missing a beat or an ounce of chemistry. Wallows’ the Model Tour in Dallas, TX was a phenomenal show with an incredible high-energy crowd making it a must see experience.
New Zealand singer-songwriter Benee opened the show and her set was filled with lots of her catchy songs including “Kool”, “Soaked”, and “Beach Boy.” The 24-year-old’s energy was off the charts as she ran across stage and joked with the crowd. Benee’s passion echoed throughout the venue as the crowd was a fantastic opener for the show. She ended her set with viral hit “Supalonely,” which blew up on TikTok in 2019 for its catchy rhythm and exciting lyrics.
