Neil Frances continue to drop new music as they tour, having released “High Notes,” that features rapper PawPaw Rod. The single follows up the release of their deluxe album, ‘It’s All a Bit Fuzzier’, which features six remixes by artists like Poolside, and Alan Braxe of singles from their October 2023 record, ‘It’s All a Bit Fuzzy’. The duo, consisting of Jordan Feller, Marc Gilfry have garnered critical acclaim and a passionate growing fanbase that’s appreciated their knack for dance tunes filled with sonic influences ranging from ‘80s/’90s rave culture, ‘70s funk and soul and classic hip-hop. Their live shows are known as one big dance party filled with euphoria and energy, highlighted by their recent festival appearances at Coachella, Portola, Lollapalooza and others. Of this year’s Coachella appearance, Gilfry shared, “it’s been something I’ve been dreaming about since I was a kid because I grew up in Southern California. I could have died the next day and been happy. It was a really good experience,” while Feller noted, “his band has been one giant manifestation for me. I remember when I first moved to California living on my buddy’s couch in Venice Beach making the first Neil Frances records. ‘Dumb Love’ being one and in my head I’m like, I’m making this song for a sunset set at Coachella and then fast forward a fair amount of years, definitely didn’t take a short amount of time but fast forward and that’s exactly what we were doing. It was a dream come true.” The duo is already working on new music and is touring throughout the rest of the year.
Neil Frances spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about performing at Bonnaroo 2024, how they perceive the growing attention, what’s informing their new music and more.
