Sadie Jean recently wrapped up her first headlining tour to many sold-out shows and capped off the tail-end of the run with the release of the deluxe edition of her EP, ‘Simple Like 17’. The EP contains three brand new tracks including “Shut Up About It,” “You Don’t” and “Aisle 6″. “Shut Up About It” in particular signifies the closure of a chapter of Sadie Jean’s life, as she explained, “most of the songs in this project are about the same person from 3 years ago. I wish I could shut up about it. This song is about that. This is a more uptempo fun song, which is new for my discography thus far, and it’s lyrically by far the most playful. By admitting that I’ll never really shut up about it no matter how many songs I write – this song feels like the perfect way to close out the ‘Simple Like 17’ chapter”. The singer/songwriter from Southern California broke through during the pandemic with her song “WYD Now?” and the unique method of an open-verse challenge by posting a snippet of the song and encouraging people to adding their own words to the song. “WYD Now?” instantly garnered millions of views and streams and brought much attention to the burgeoning artist. The attention was something that she admitted to being a bit overwhelming and needed to step back from in order to reset, “I was not prepared. My first song just went viral online… and my entrance into the music industry was not gradual at all. I didn’t know anyone and then all of a sudden everyone was like trying to get me to sign a deal or whatever and it was very overwhelming,” Sadie Jean shared, “I don’t think I was ready for it so I definitely took time to just adjust and write songs and figure out who I was. I feel like that took 10 months I would say and then I put out my second song and since then I feel like I have a grip on my own career for the first time, which is really nice.” Sadie Jean plans to release more new music later this year with a new project in the works.
