Zolita, American singer and songwriter, is back with her third studio album, titled Queen of Hearts, and it exceeds all expectations. Zolita, born Zoë Montana Hoetzel, gained recognition back in 2015 with a viral video for “Explosion”, a song off of her first EP titled Immaculate Conception. Since then, Zoë has been curating her sound with an aray of singles, albums, and additional EP’s. With millions of streams, Zolita has captured the hearts of listeners and gave them an original work of art with her newest album titled Queen of Hearts.
The 8 song Album opens with “All Over Again”, a catchy breakup song that everyone needs in their life. The intro starts off with a melodic solo verse of “I think we should break up / I think we should end it / I think we should call it quits / So you’re a stranger again”. Then drops into a catchy beat that brings the whole song together and flows into the rest of the Queen of Hearts journey.
The second song on the album is titled “Bloodstream” which was released as a single back in February, with a music video to accompany it. Currently chasing 1m views, the “Bloodstream” video has endless positive comments like “she did it again”, and “she’s such a phenomenal storyteller”. The song emphasized what it feels to be in love with deep songwriting like “Nothing is close enough / I want more than your touch / I wanna be in your bloodstream /Run through your veins / I wanna know how to feels to be / In your DNA”. Zolita hits the nail on the head with another rhythmic pop song that has a much more meaningful message.
Queen of Hearts is a cohesive listening experience that seamlessly incorporates different genres like country and alternative vibes. In song number 6 of the album, titled “Small Town Scandal”, Zolita creates the perfect song to line dance to – not just because they line dance in the music video…but you can’t help but wanting to get up and dance when this song starts to play. With some subtle guitar riffs and lyrics like “She’s a vers in the saddle / Save a horse, ride a cowgirl” you can’t deny the slight honky-tonk undertone.
Zolita is one to keep an eye out for as her journey continues and grows. Her repertoire of songs, and the newest addition of Queen of Hearts is the kind of music that will continue go viral and gain traction from endless listeners. Zolita is truly one of kind, consistently realeasing new music, being authentically herself, and creating a following for her confidence within the LGBTQ community.
