Emerging singer/songwriter Emmy Meli dropped her debut EP Hello Stranger on May 10th to much anticipation. The seven track collection was recorded in 2022 and the songs represent the past seven years of her life until the present-day. She chose the name of the EP from the Barbara Lewis song of the same name, stating, “it does feel like I’m reintroducing myself to the world. Because I am a stranger to my listeners and they’re a stranger to me. They know my hit song, but they don’t know what I believe and what my personality is. This is my chance to really show everything I have to offer as a writer and a singer.” The EP takes the listener on a journey as songs like “Silence” reflects on dealing with her issues with anxiety while the infectious “Breakthrough” tackles her dealing with a tumultuous relationship. “Aura” is standout track that features Baby Tate and highlights the freedom from the confidence achieved from becoming a more independent person. “I hope the EP as a whole helps people get out of their heads and be themselves and feel good every day,” she stated, “everyone has power, if they can find in themselves and tap into it.” Emmy Meli is currently on tour with Alexander Stewart and is already planning for more new music to be released.
Emmy Meli spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about how she’s managed to find the space and time to deal with the overwhelming attention from the instant viral attention from her song “I Am Woman”, the themes of her debut EP ‘Hello, Stranger’ and more.
