Rising music artist, Azzecca, has had an eventful 2023 from celebrating her birthday at Burning Man, getting married, and performing at major events across the country. Azzecca’s music has evolved over the past year, and she’s been drawn to the UK underground scene, finding inspiration in the revival of UK funky and post-dubstep genres. Her husband, Kye “Foamo” Gibbon of Gorgon City, played a significant role in her musical development, and they honed their skills together while mixing tunes on their kitchen counter. Azzecca’s journey into music production began during the lockdown when she decided to pursue her passion more seriously. She started by making edits and remixes, with her Cassie edit on “I’ve Been Waiting” gaining significant attention and ultimately leading to her signing with Higher Ground. Her commitment to creating a female-focused and safe space for music lovers inspired her to host her own events, “Dirty Disco,” where she books underground artists and ensures a respectful and enjoyable atmosphere for all attendees. Azzecca plans to take her Dirty Disco parties on tour, with upcoming shows in Los Angeles and Miami in 2024. Her latest release, “Youuu,” represents an exploration of her evolving sound as she experiments with analog synths. The track offers a nostalgic nod to early 90s rave culture, adding breaks and a unique twist to her signature baseline. With plans to release an album next year, Azzecca is poised for an exciting 2024.
Azzecca recently performed at the Portola Music Festival and spoke with B-Sides about performing at the festival, her musical journey and more.
