Those lucky enough to be in attendance Sunday evening for the third stop of the Bittersweet Daze tour at Frost Amphitheater in Palo Alto were in for a treat. On a warm July evening in front of a large and energetic crowd, Australian singer & songwriter grentperez kicked off the show performing songs from across his discography like “Silver Lining” and “Clementine”. It didn’t take long for Grant to get the whole crowd moving and singing along as he the audience took it to the next level during fan-favorite “Cherry Wine”.
The energy didn’t stop as Ricky Montgomery took full advantage of the opportunity to keep the crowd on their feet with his electric stage presence. Fans were delighted by great performances of both older hits like “This December” as well as fresh 2023 releases like “Eraser” and “Black Fins”.
mxmtoon took the stage next as the sun began setting on the adoring hometown crowd for the Bay Area native. Performing a wide range of self-described “happy sounding sad songs”, mxmtoon treated cheering fans to a couple of emotional and beautiful acoustic renditions on the ukulele. By the end of her set, mxmtoon had the whole venue singing along and swaying their arms to her catchy sendoff “Mona Lisa”.
As the evening turned to night and the stage lights grew bright, Cavetown took the stage in front of scores of eagerly awaiting fans. Iconic breakout songs like “Lemonboy” echoed through the crowd as the UK artist had the crowd singing and cheering loudly. To add to the spectacle and punctuate the evening, Cavetown invited fellow performers and tourmates Ricky Montgomery and mxmtoon back on stage to perform their recent collaboration “Nobody Loves Me”. The moment embodied the joy and energy that all the performers brought to a crowd whose memories won’t soon forget.
