Dallas-based band little image came home for the first time in over a year as the headliner for Colony House’s The Cannonballers tour. On Saturday, the trio captivated the crowd with exhilarating energy, setting the tone for the rest of the night. While some of the crowd learned about the band during their set, they all went home with Brandon’s (bass, synth) magnetic performance during “BALLET” on their minds. As a special treat for long-time fans, Jack (vocals, guitar) brought out his sister for “Bottles” from the band’s first album Musings. little image ended their passionate homecoming with a Troy’s impressive drum solo during “WORTH IT” and a brief crowd surf from Jack and Troy.
Still amped from little image, the crowd’s lively anticipation turned eager the moment Caleb Chapman (vocals), Scott Mills (guitar, bass), Parke Cotrell (bass), and Will Chapman (drums) stepped on stage. Underneath flickering yellow and purple lights, Colony House started the show with “Landlocked Surf Rock” resulting in a surreal experience as the crowd sung the catchy lines back to the band. Making the show even more unforgettable, Caleb made the audience go wild when he invited a father on stage to play guitar for “2: 20”. Colony House gelled with their new guitarist and had everyone energized for more hits such as “Would Ya Could Ya” and “One of Those Days”.
Near the end of their set, Caleb took time to express his appreciation and love to both Dallas and the crowd, who reciprocated his sincerity with heartfelt expressions. His intimate moments huddled everyone together during acoustic performances of “Moving Forward” and “Everything”. Close to the end of “Moving Forward”, the rest of Colony House and Troy of little image joined Caleb for the last chorus.
At the end of the night, it was hard to deny the bond Colony House and little image have, which spread throughout the audience. From genuine interactions with the crowd and each other on stage, both bands made it a memorable night for everyone involved.
