Swedish popstar Zara Larsson recently released “Can’t Tame Her” the first single from her upcoming third international album, due this year. The song is also her first release on her own label that she owns – a partnership with Epic Records/Blackbutter. In thanking the label that she was with since 2011, Swedish independent TEN, Larsson said: “I really want to say thank you to Ola and everyone at TEN for giving me the opportunity to break out as an artist and helping me start my career. You are now also making something happen that is so, so rare for a woman in the music industry – the capability to own my own catalogue. With that it makes perfect sense that I would start my own record company. I very much look forward to my future and to a continued collaboration with Sony as well.” Larsson has been working on her upcoming album, focused on honing her skills as a songwriter, enlisting the help of award-winning songwriter Rick Nowels, who’s written with the likes of Adele, Lana Del Rey, Madonna, Dua Lipa and many others over the last four decades. Of the collaboration, she noted, “we’ve been working one-on-one with one another writing a lot and that pushed me a lot to be a better writer.” Larsson will perform at a handful of festivals this year throughout Europe.
Zara Larsson spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about her upcoming album, collaborating with acclaimed songwriter Rick Nowels, writing emotional songs and more.
