A major musical discovery of the early pandemic has been Blu DeTiger, breaking through with her single “Figure It Out” that went viral and has since racked up over 120 million combined global streams to date. The New York City native has continued to build momentum after releasing her debut EP, ‘How Did We Get Here?’ in 2020, having performed at numerous festivals including Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Governors Ball, Hangout Festival and Okeechobee. She kicked off her fall tour at the beginning of November and brought her exciting set to August Hall in San Francisco on the 17th. DeTiger emerged on-stage smiling and kicked off the set with “Crash Course”, a song that she collaborated with Biig Piig on. With the bass front and center, “Hot Crush Lover” followed up and got the audience dancing and jumping as DeTiger moved back and forth from each side of the stage. “Cotton Candy Lemonade” was a highlight as the pace slowed down and saw DeTiger taking center stage, sitting down sans bass for the beginning of the track and would continue with the light projections against the mirrorballs for great visuals.
After performing her latest song, “Elevator”, DeTiger launched into a fun cover medley with her version of Taylor Swift’s “Style” and included “Glamorous” by Fergie and “Time to Pretend” by MGMT. There were plenty of bass solos during songs like “Blutooth” and Tangerine, which really showcased how great a bass player DeTiger is. Ending the night with “Figure It Out” and “Vintage”, DeTiger had the crowd dancing and singing with their hands in the air, leaving fans wanting more from a seasoned performer with an incredibly bright future ahead.
