VIDEO INTERVIEW: Sasha Alex Sloan Says She’s More Confident In Her Music, Takes Herself Less Seriously

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Sasha Alex Sloan released her sophomore album I Blame the World on May 13, 2022, under RCA Records. The album is a follow-up to her 2020 debut Only Child, an alternative indie-pop collection that set Sloan right in the spotlight. I Blame The World maintains Sloan’s classic angsty sounds while showing her major growth in songwriting; witty lyrics paired with her unmistakable great vibes. The album was a product of Sloan’s two years in quarantine, a time when she wanted to find a way to creatively express herself during dark times. “I think what the pandemic did for me was, before the pandemic, it was just like me me me. And all of my songs were about me, and they still are, but I don’t know if I had that broader view on the world. And when you go through something globally, I think you can’t help but think about everyone else and I think it was really important for me to go through that and kind of look more outward than inward.” Prior to, and while releasing, her own music, Sloan co-wrote songs with major stars like ODESZA, Camilla Cabello, Kygo, and more, as well as performed her new album on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Sasha Alex Sloan spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar about her upcoming wedding, how she’s learned to become more confident in life to ignore the opinions of others, her latest album ‘I Blame The World’ and more.
