Fresh on the heels of the release of her latest EP, ‘Shaking Hands With Elvis’ Allison Ponthier performed her first headlining show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, New York June 14th. Ponthier took to the stage raucous cheers from the sold-out crowd as she performed an intro to her song “Cowboy”. The Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter shifted gears into “Autopilot” which is from her latest EP, a song about her phobia of driving that also spawned a viral TikTok video of Ponthier driving with her manager. Backed by a guitarist and drummer, Ponthier emitted a natural confidence and charm as she performed songs the title track from the latest EP, “Late Bloomer” and “Hardcore”. “Hell Is a Crowded Room” and “I Lied” (a Lord Huron song she was featured on) were standouts during the set but none more so than the encore “Hollywood Forever Cemetery”. The show was a testament to the bright future Ponthier has in front of her as she backed up the recordings with an entertaining and memorable live interpretation that can only evolve and grow along with her songwriting.
