Supporting their latest album, ‘LP3’ that was released in February, Hippo Campus have been on tour and performing to overly enthusiastic crowds. Performing to a sold-out audience at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA April 9th, Hippo Campus exceeded expectations. They kicked off the set with two tracks from the new album in “2 Young 2 Die” and “Ashtray”, both of which were met with loud approval from the audience. Performing “Bad Dream Baby” kicked things into high gear as fans were singing loudly and had their phones in the air to capture the moment. Lead singer Jake Luppen balanced both controlling the audience and performing expertly as he brought a steady energy to the stage as other band members were animated and walking around the stage. Songs like “Simple Season”, “Way It Goes” and “Baseball” elicited loud applause and singalongs but none more so than the songs that ended the set in “Bambi” and “Buttercup”. After the lengthy time off from being on the road, Hippo Campus came back to Oakland in stronger form and put on a memorable show that will linger for quite some time.
