You may have heard Seb’s ultra-catchy song “seaside_demo”, which went viral on TikTok this year when listeners discovered how perfectly the breezy track lines up with Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar”. The Los Angeles up-and-comer wrote, produced, and engineered the song all within the confines of his bedroom, independently releasing the song after perfecting its chill, carefree vibe. SEB has much more in store for 2021, with his debut EP ‘IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING’ on the way.
With his viral success, SEB has come a long way from the days when him and his middle school friends would create their own rap songs using beats they found on YouTube. While attending college in New York City, his internship at Electric Ladyland Studios connected him with some major artists who inspired him to take the leap and move out to LA. Since then, SEB has been grinding and honing in his artistic process, making enthralling pop music in the process. SEB draws from numerous influences ranging from Grimes to Kurt Cobain, but his music plays off of some of the best aspects of the pop genre while maintaining a forward-thinking gaze.
SEB spoke with B-Sides host Pete Mar during a pit-stop on his cross-country drive to talk about the success of seaside_demo, his musical journey, the debut EP and more!
