UK band Blossoms will be releasing their third studio full-length, ‘Foolish Loving Spaces’ on January 31 2020 [Avenue A/Virgin EMI] too much anticipation. The band has already released a couple of songs from the album including “Your Girlfriend” and “The Keeper”. The album is described as a romantic page-turner of light and shade, as the band explains: “The album is a pure celebration of love in all of its splendid and baffling guises, toying with the so-called sins of lust and forbidden infatuation. It’s inspired by a summer spent listening to ‘Stop Making Sense’, ‘The Joshua Tree’ & ‘Screamadelica’.” Comprised of Tom Ogden (singer/guitarist), Josh Dewhurst (percussion/guitar), Charlie Salt (bassist), Myles Kellock (keyboardist), and Joe Donovan (drummer), the band formed in 2013 at a pub with the same name and three years later their self-titled record topped the UK album charts resulting in a BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominations. More recently, the band has ventured into the world of podcasting with ‘Blossoms Pubcast’, which topped the iTunes podcast charts.
B-Sides recently spoke with Blossoms at the Independent in San Francisco about their upcoming album for the new year, their single “Your Girlfriend” and its thematic similarities to Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” and more. Check out the interview:
