Brooklyn-based Phony Ppl may have been the opener for headlining act Pusha T but they performed like the veterans that they are at The Fillmore in San Francisco on November 8, 2018. Performing to a near capacity crowd as an opener, Phony Ppl was energetic and engaging during their set that included tracks from their latest album, Mō’zā-ik, which came out a few weeks before on October 18. Although a new song, the audience was bopping along to “Something About Your Love”, an up-tempo track that describes an unhealthy relationship, as well as the song “Move Her Mind”, a drumbeat-filled track that asks a woman if she can match her beauty with her mindset. Since launching their career in 2010, the five-piece has captivated R&B and hip-hop fans with their innovative musical style of electronic mixes, guitar riffs, and jazzy melodies and their set proved they still have a lot to say and music in them.
