Just last month, Pond released new music with the track, “Burnt Out Star,” out now via Interscope Records, their first new material since the acclaimed album The Weather that came out out last year. The Weather was the band’s seventh studio album and garnered immense critical praise and was produced by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala. The band has been on tour off and on since the release of the album, having played numerous festivals including Coachella, Primavera and End of The Road in 2017 and this year’s Bonnaroo and Shaky Knees in the U.S. The band has hinted that a new album is already done and could be released before the end of the year, but in the meantime, Pond will be on the road again for a full North American headlining tour throughout October and November 2018. The dates kick off with an appearance at Desert Daze Festival, alongside Tame Impala, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Death Grips and many more, followed by a slot at San Francisco’s Treasure Island Festival.
B-Sides caught up with Nick Allbrook and Jay Watson of Pond in San Francisco to talk about the band’s penchant for hip-hop and how it may be reflected in the new material, their hope for a special guest to join them on-stage at the upcoming Treasure Island Music Festival and more.
