Over the past few years, DJ and producer 3LAU has grown as an artist and influencer, eventually starting his own record label in conjunction with philanthropy. Born Justin Blau, the artist started playing piano as a child and would go on to teach himself guitar, bass, and drums. It was during a trip to Sweden while still in college that Blau was exposed to electronic dance music and inspired him to create his own music. While majoring in finance at Washington University in St. Louis on a full scholarship, Blau experienced early success as a DJ/producer with numerous sell-out club dates and the track “How You Love Me” [feat. Bright Lights] became a radio success in 2014. 3LAU and his music continued to grow after graduation, leading him to start his own label, BLUME, which helps raise money for various philanthropic causes. The label helped raise money for Pencils of Promise in 2016 and his recently released debut album, Ultraviolet, will donate profits from the album towards the F* Cancer organization. While in San Francisco, 3LAU recently took a moment to talk about the assembly of his debut album, his financial experience with Bitcoin and more.
