If there is a single band that the collective music scene(and their fan base) is holding their breath for a proper album from, it is Sofi Tukker. The indie-dance-pop duo consisting of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern was founded only a few years ago when the two met as students during their senior year of college at Brown University. Tucker had been a basketball player his whole life but picked up making music while he was recovering from a severe injury that ended his career, and Sophie had accepted a job to teach yoga in Brazil the following year. The two combined their first names to create Sofi Tukker and released their first EP Soft Animals featuring the songs “Drinkee” and “Awoo” in 2016. The EP was a critical smash, earning the band a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording while the band has carefully released singles over the past year.
