In Tampa, Memorial Day Weekend was packed with ample energy and sunny days. Welcoming summer, beautiful people swarmed the fields surrounding the Raymond James Stadium. The warm vibes greeted visitors from all over the region looking for a fun getaway at Sunset Music Festival 2017. The two-day music party was one to remember.
The bright Florida rays were welcoming through the adorned branches of the luscious trees. Ganja White Night embraced the heat and made the crowd enjoy a heavy set while 4B had a massive sweat party with a rowdy crowd. The shade became camp for many enjoying food and cocktails but the biggest attraction was a large darkened room booming with black light art surrounding the walls and roof. The maze put together by local artists took you through a cold misty walk while 3D like glasses handed at the entrance made the art dance to the music. Bud Light also helped everyone stay cool by welcoming the crowd to their Beach Party. Greeting everyone with lime popsicles, the sandy cool tent always had a party going.
Once the sun set, Cedric Gervais brought his Miami Sh** Show and reminded us about his Summertime Sadness. Under an arch of lights stood Ghastly throwing a dark set true to his style. Kill the Noise followed with a crazy energetic bounce party and Getter then tore the crowd apart with nonstop dubstep and trap almost too heavy to handle. Major Lazer then ended the night with their party at the main stage. They featured crowd favorites and even a subtle mix of “Despacito”.
On day two, SMF Sunday kicked off with Kungs’ illuminating set of summer hits. Florida veteran A-Track showed off his amazing spinning skills while everyone danced by the water misters. However, Yellow Claw might have caused some people to overheat.The night continued with Zeds Dead and Above and Beyond. The countering sets were just as iconic in uniting the crowd with familiar lyrics. The night’s festivities concluded with Snail’s step-vomit. His intense dubstep style set brought mosh pits and walls of death; It left everyone like this.
Overall, the weekend was phenomenal. Past headliners featured Tiesto, Armin VanBuren, Zedd and familiar EDM artists. This year, there were bits of bass infused into each performance making the amount of trap and dub remixes at every stage was unreal. We got some good summer anthems lined up for you.
