The Japanese House is the moniker of 20 year old Amber Bain, who over the past 10-months has been one of the most-promising artists from the U.K. Learning how to play the guitar from her father, who taught her a range of classics from AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles, Bain also taught herself to make music on her laptop and recorded her first song “My Little Secret,” about a school crush when she was 12 years old. It was when she and her friend attended a gig for The 1975 that Bain would actually consider a professional career in music. Lead singer, Matty Healy would eventually date Bain’s friend, during which Healy heard Bain’s music. Released in 2015, the debut EP by The Japanese House, Pools To Bathe In would garner critical acclaim, led by the track “Still”. Having released two more EPs, the most recent, Swim Against the Tide, The Japanese House has gone on a worldwide tour supporting The 1975 and played Reading and Leeds Festival and has no signs of slowing down.
