The duo of POWERS is comprised of Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru, who each have an impressive list of writing credits to go along with their own infectious tunes. Del Rio has produced and written for a variety of artists ever since he landed a publishing deal with Alex Da Kid (Rihanna’s “I Love the Way You Lie”, Imagine Dragons). His resume includes work with top pop artists such as Selena Gomez, Kylie Minogue, and Cee Lo Green. He most recently made waves by producing the anthemic X Ambassadors ft Jamie N Commons & Jay Z “Jungle” and executive producing The Knocks “So Classic” EP (of which Powers wrote and featured on the title track “Classic”). Crista Ru has her own set of impressive credentials as well, having written the lead tune from Selena Gomez’s most recent release to working with Swedish pop duo Icona Pop. Together, POWERS has already created some memorable tunes that’s included “Hot” and this year’s breakout, “Beat of My Drum”, which amassed millions of views/plays online.
On the cusp of the release of their debut album, set to be released later this year, POWERS took a moment to speak with Pete Mar from B-Sides On-Air about their recent success, plans for the new album and more.
