Lightning In A Bottle is a unique annual event which combines art, music, self-improvement and an open-mindedness that has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. Set in the beautiful San Antonio Recreation Area in Bradley, California, this year’s sold-out event took place over Memorial Day Weekend by the folks of Do LaB and provided a solid lineup that included familiar festival names such as, Grimes, Chet Faker, Jamie XX, Big Gigantic and numerous others, alongside a concious lineup of illuminating talks, yoga and performers at the Temple of Consciousness.
With each day starting early with yoga gatherings set to music curated by Marques Wyatt and William Close & The Earth Harp Collective, attendees had numerous environments to get immersed in. Throughout the day, numerous attendees took a break during the day to hit up the Gong Sanctuary and meditate to sound vibrations of singing bowls, gongs and chimes.
Other unique environments included The Grand Artique, which was set as its own little town of Frontierville. The area included a Trading Post/General Store, hotel and gypsy encampment accompanied by its own musical stage. Amori’s Casino & Burlesque was thoroughly entertaining with its live burlesque and cabaret, gaming, wandering characters, live bands and fire shows.
Aside from the music experience and immersive environments, there were activities to witness including the inaugural Do LaB Soap Box Derby, and partake in such as bowling, Skeeball and the Style-it Spectacular Beauty Salon & Barber Shop for mini-makeovers and styles.
The extent in which the organizers, Do LaB, goes to in order to set the proper mindset for attendees to come away with a sense of enlightenment and community is unique and special. An event such as Lightning In A Bottle is difficult to capture in words but it is highly recommended to experience for yourself.
