Bay Area artist, Day Wave, has been gaining recognition in 2015 from the airy and catchy track, “Drag”. Founder and songwriter of the band, Jackson Phillips, has been in the music industry for a short time, having previously been part of the electro-pop duo, Carousel. Phillips learned to play music at a young age and attended the Berklee College Of Music. Although Carousel was gaining some momentum in the blogosphere, Phillips switched gears and focused more on a guitar-driven solo project that would eventually become Day Wave. Recruiting some friends to fill out the rest of Day Wave, Phillips is on the up-swing again as the band toured with Blonde Redhead in 2015 and will open for Albert Hammond Jr. in the fall in support of their debut EP, Headcase.
Phillips recently spoke with B-Sides On-Air during the Day Wave’s San Francisco tour stop to talk about the success of “Drag”, his upbringing in the Bay Area and more.
