Rey Pila originally started as the solo project of Diego Solorzano in Mexico City with the release of his self-titled debut in 2009. The album garnered critical recognition and Rey Pila toured with notable artists ranging from Interpol, Muse, TV on the Radio and Ariel Pink, in addition to their own headlining shows. Rey Pila eventually became a full-on band with permanent members Andrés Velasco, Rodrigo Blanco and Miguel Hernández joining in Solorzano in the move to signing to Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records. Rey Pila released their second studio album, The Future Sugar on September 25, 2015, which features three new songs produced by Julian Casablancas.
B-Sides On-Air spoke with Rey Pila during the first weekend of Austin City Limits 2015, where the band spoke with host, Pete Mar, about performing in Austin, the new album and more!
