Five 10 Year Anniversary Tours We Want for 2015

2005. That was like two years ago, right? A full decade has passed since the year that brought us Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch, 40 Year Old Virgin, Hurricane Katrina, and the incredibly tragic death or Mr.Miyagi, Pat Morita. In the past couple of years, bands have really taken to ten year anniversary tours for fan favorite albums. Taking Back Sunday did it for their debut “Tell All Your Friends“, New Found Glory has done it for two separate albums, and the trend keeps growing more and more popular in the scene. The nostalgia overload makes for an incredible live experience, and if a band you like does it for an album you love, I highly recommend getting tickets. Anyways, we picked our five albums from ’05 that we hope to see live this year.

Kanye West – Late Registration – This trend hasn’t really broken into hip hop yet, and what better way to get things going than with Yeezy’s sophomore stunner. This concert would be legendary, with songs like “Heard Em’ Say“, “Touch the Sky,” “Gold Digger“, and “Diamonds from Sierra Leone“. Kanye has certainly evolved into a much different artist over the years, it’d probably be just a nice for him to take it back to the more classic hip-hop sound and casual stage persona, as it would be for the fans who didn’t evolve with him, as well as the fans that love his entire catalog. Plus, this could open the doors to a slew of other big time hip-hop anniversary tours. (Marshall Mathers LP, PLEASE?)

Against Me! – Searching For a Former Clarity – Speaking of artists changing over the years, Against Me!’s frontman Tom Gabel, is a frontwoman these days, with the new name Laura Jane Grace. She has found a confidence that was always missing in Gabel’s stage presence. Laura has said some of the songs on this album were somewhat based on her struggle to come to terms with being transgender. She has even rewritten some of the lyrics to particular songs for when they play them live, to more directly address the topic. This is one of, if not the best album in their discography, and boasts one of the most diverse range of sounds the band has ever done. If this happens, you won’t want to miss it.

Gorillaz – Demon Days – This could be the Feel Good(get it? Cause like, there’s that song?) concert of the year if it happened. The Gorillaz always put on an insane spectacle of a visual show. It’s been a while since the band has toured, as they were on somewhat of a hiatus but, they have recently confirmed they’re working on new material. While Damon Albarn has been pretty busy with his also reformed Britpop heroes Blur, as well as with his first proper full length solo album. If he could find the time to squeeze this anniversary tour, fans would likely go nuts, as Demon Days stands as their most successful and well received album to date. Come back with a bang, fellas.

Nine Inch Nails – With Teeth – Maybe it’s a testament to the one man band but, Trent Reznor has still yet to put out an album that’s unlistenable. Perhaps it’s his ability to take it all on himself but, whatever it is, it’s working, and “With Teeth” is certainly one of his best efforts. The band was nominated for the Rock n Roll hall of fame last year on their first year of eligibility, what better way to celebrate one anniversary, than with the celebration of another? Plus the color scheme of the album could work for some seriously cool stage production; something the band is usually pretty stellar at.

Panic at the Disco! – A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out – The Las Vegas emo-carnival synth kings have gone through a few line-up changes over the years, with the original members splitting in half shortly after the release of their divisive sophomore, more classic rock-y, “Pretty. Odd.” What better way to try and get the OG crew back together than to celebrate the album that put them on the map with their monster single “I Write Sins Not Tragedies.” This album will be swirling with nostalgia for anyone who was in high school when Fall Out Boy was still slapping punk at the end of the word pop, and putting xxx in their Myspace profile name.
