Booming music coming from every corner, blue skies with the perfect sea breeze and half-dressed crowds standing out in neon colors will be littering the streets of downtown Miami this last weekend of March. As a perfect ending to the annual Winter Music Conference, Ultra Music Festival is coming back for its 16th year. With the VIP experience sold out and with less than 10% of the General Admission tickets available, South Florida prepares for what is sure to be one of the year’s biggest electronic music festivals.
Serving as a worldwide symbol, The UMF MainStage is transformed each year into a new high tech operating productions experiment that provides the audience with the latest sounds, lights and pyrotechnics. The Ultra 2015 Main Stage will be hosted by melodic beats and big bass from tradition favorites such as David Guetta, Alesso, Bassnectar and Avicii sure to bring in a worldwide audience as they drop unreleased tracks like they traditionally have in past Ultras.
Other “not as big’” artist will be showing off their newest projects while setting up their own agenda. With onstage drums and saxophone, the duo that make up Big Gigantic will be showcasing their musical talent live with their newest jazz and hip hop infused sounds. Porter Robinson will be another producer to be on the lookout for at this year’s Ultra. Following a newly released album, the young DJ producer should be expected to drop new sounds heavily infused with Asian beats.
Fresh tracks can be expected from new timers such as Australian tropical house producer Thomas Jack and Canadian Grammy award winner Cashmere Cat. The Oasis stage will be showcasing a line up with new talent alongside Skrillex’s very own OWSLA stage. Known for his collaborations, the alien will be showcasing an array of sounds at the label’s stage but will be coming in short compared to his closing set which will be sure to be an energy filled show perfect to end the festival at the main stage with an almost guaranteed surprise at any given drop.
Funk and grove will be headlining the Live Stage with shows from Chromeo, Claptone live and artist on the rise Odesza who is currently touring the Nation. The Resistance Stage is announcing deep sounds from Jamie Jones, Art Department and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs while the UMF Radio tent will be providing all the Trap and Twerk you can handle. aArtists such as Brillz, Ookay and Crizzly known for thwowing in new experinmental sounds and mixes will undeniably work up the crowd.
