For many fans, it’s been a long three years since The Drums released their album, “Portamento” in 2011. The Brooklyn-based duo, however, decided it would be wise to take the time away from the non-stop cycle of writing an album and touring since gaining recognition in 2010 by Pitchfork, NME and getting named one of the 15 music acts for the BBC Sound of 2010. Back with a new album, “Encyclopedia,” founding members and childhood friends, Jonny Pierce and Jacob Graham found the songwriting process easier without the pressure and stress the previous works had due to expectations.
The Drums recently spoke with B-Sides host, Pete Mar, about the time away from the band, the making of “Encyclopedia” and more.
