Happy Birthday, America! July 4th is just around the corner, which means no work, and plenty of beers, barbecues, and all things ‘Murica. While there’s plenty of ways to enjoy the long weekend, horseshoes, beer pong, swimming, fireworks, none of them mean anything without a perfect playlist to get wild to. Musicians may not always be keen on lyrically endorsing America, but parties aren’t for paying attention anyways. Here’s some of our favorite American party jams.
Miley Cyrus – Party In The USA – Far from subtle, here’s a throwback to when Miley was still associated with Hannah Montana and Mickey Mouse, intend of popping Molly and twerkin’ without the proper assets.
Tom Petty – American Girl – So, the titles are pretty much dead giveaways here, huh? American Girl is the perfect upbeat tune to keep people dancing the night away.
Bruce Springsteen – Born In The USA – You could think of this as a prequel to Miley’s party anthem. Or, as a social commentary on the way America was treating it’s Vietnam veterans at the time. Either way, it’s become a must for the 4th.
The Offspring – Americana – What’s a party without a little punk? The lyrics are a little more on the “What’s wrong with America?” side of things, but this one’ll get people moving for sure.
Jimi Hendrix – The Star Spangled Banner – You knew you were gonna have to play this one once the fireworks started going off, and is there really a better version than this one?
Just, whatever you do, avoid this at all costs:
