Swedish singer/songwriter Erik Hassle released the EP, Somebody’s Party” in March 2014 and showcases the influences of soul music that’s been impressed upon him. Hassle has already worked with numerous pop artists such as, Ellie Goulding, who he performed a duet with for the cover of “Be Mine”, originally performed by Robyn and also co-wrote the track “Can’t Remember to Forget You” for Shakira and Rihanna. Hassle is a standout in his own right, having scored top 10 hits in his native Sweden and Denmark.
Hassle spoke with B-Sides host, Pete Mar, about his thoughts of San Francisco, his upbringings in a small town outside of Stockholm, and the influence Wilson Pickett had on him. Having moved to Los Angeles, Hassle spoke about how it’s affected his writing. The pain of love is an evident subject matter of his latest work and Hassle spoke about how both his observations and personal experiences affected his writings.
