Now I’m sure many of you have heard Bastille’s “Pompeii” at some time or another. The song has had very big commercial success, that naturally it is featured in the the2014 film Pompeii. But in case you didn’t know, the band has released a total of two full-length albums this past year, Bad Blood and All This Bad Blood. Both albums include many great synth-pop majestic songs , yet did you know Bastille can also get a little sad and mellow with their music? Their track “Oblivion” is a quiet song about admiring someone for their strength and wisdom, we hear this in lyrics, “when oblivion is calling out your name, you always take it further than I ever can.” Singer Dan Smith’s high pitch vocals combine perfectly with the melodic harmony of the piano. Fans of CHVRCHES and The Temper Trap should check out Bastille!
