For those of you who enjoy heavy metal bands like Led Zeppelin, and would like to take a musical trip back in time with the glitz and glam included, check out local Bay Area ’70s inspired metal band, Glitter Wizard! Originally from San Francisco/Oakland, California is the five piece stoner rock band that combines guitar riffs, echoing vocals, and hazy melodies. They have released a total of four albums dating back to 2009 with the release of their 7″ Black Lotus/Witch’s Limbo, Solar Hits in 2011, their second 7″ Horses in 2012, and Hunting Gatherers in 2012. Besides the band’s name, their songs revolve around fantasy and humor with such tracks, “Worship the Devil,” “Sunlit Wolves,” and “Wizard Wagon.” Even the band members’ stage names are ridiculous yet fitting for a trippy band such as Glitter Wizard. Band members, include Wendy Stonehenge, Doug Graves, Lorfin Terrafor, Kandi Moon, and Fancy Cymballs. The band is currently touring in the bay area for February and March, and plan to tour in Europe starting in Germany, this April and May of 2014. Check out the band live at the Elbo Room in San Francisco on March 7th and Merchant’s in Oakland on March 29th!
