As many of us already know recent teen heart-throb Justin Bieber has recently been having his fair share of run-ins with the law including, drag racing in Miami, causing $20,000 worth of damage by throwing eggs at his neighbor’s home, and drug possession. And let’s not forget Miley Cyrus the Disney child star that rebelled against her innocent image in her music video for “Wrecking Ball,” twerking, and drug possession. Yet today there are some young celebrities that are still famous for their music and not for their criminal activity. 4.) Hayley Williams of Paramore
This red-headed rocker was discovered at the young age of 14 by managers Dave Steunebrink and Richard Williams. Through their attorneys she was introduced to Atlantic Records and signed to major label, who originally wanted Williams to become a solo pop artist. Williams refused and stated she wanted to be part of a band and perform alternative rock. Shortly afterwards Paramore was created, and band members Josh Farro, Zac Farro, and Jeremy Davis joined up with Williams. To give the band a more unknown persona the label produced their debut album All We Know Is Falling under Fueled By Ramen. The album dropped in 2005 when Williams was only 16 years old. Since then Paramore along with Williams has released a total 5 full length albums including their most recent Now, that was released in 2013. Williams herself has also collaborated with other artists such as R&B artist B.o.B and EDM producer Zedd. Williams has also released a make-up line with MAC Cosmetics.
3.) Adele
English singer/songwriter Adele Laurie Blue Adkins better known as just Adele, received a record contract from XL Recordings back in 2006 after posting a demo of her music on social networking site MySpace. At age 19 she released her debut album 19 and was awarded the Critics’ Choice Award at the Brit Awards and also won BBC Sound of 2008. 19 was certified four times Platinum in the United States by the RIAA and in 2009 Adele received Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy’s. In 2011 the singer released her second full length album 21, which contributed to even more success for the singer by winning a total of 6 Grammy Awards, 2 Brit Awards, and 3 American Music Awards! Adele is the first artist to sell more than 3 million copies of an album in a year in the United Kingdom, and she is the first woman in history to have 3 singles in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Last month Adele won her 10th Grammy for Best Song Written For Visual Media for the film Skyfall.
2.) Jake Bugg
English singer/songwriter Jake Bugg got his start in music at the young age of 17 years old, he was chosen to perform on the BBC’s Introducing stage at the 2011 Glastonbury Festival. He was soon discovered and signed by Mercury Records as well as had some of his songs placed on different BBC Radio playlists. The now 19 year old has produced two full length albums, (Jake Bugg and Shangri La) and is currently working on a third one with an unknown release date. He has also performed on various television shows including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan, and The Graham Norton Show.
1.) Lorde
Seventeen year old Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O’ Conner, better known as her stage name Lorde, is a New Zealand singer/songwriter that released her debut EP The Love Club back in November of 2012. The EP featured her hit song “Royals” which charted at number one on the New Zealand Top 40 charts as well as the Billboard Hot 100 in 2013. The chart topping track made Lorde the first New Zealand solo artist to have a number one song in the United States. In 2013 she released her debut album Pure Heroine. Lorde has received various awards upon the release of her music including Song of the Year and Best Solo Performance at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. Lorde is currently touring in the United States for her North American tour.
