Still covered in the dust and grime from the day before, fans converged on the second day of Riot Fest Denver like a swarm. Band after band delivered stellar performances, not to outdone by the lineup from Day 1.
New Beat Fund, Kongos and Peelander-Z got the party started with some funky beats and rousing crowd participation. Denver boys Breathe Carolina really kicked up some dust with their electric set. Public Enemy always brings the riot, delivering a unforgettable performance.
The rain clouds rolled in around 6pm right before Bad Religion was set to take the stage. In concern for crowd safety, a mandatory crowd evacuation came into effect as the rain started to pour down and lightning stretched across the sky, but the party didn’t stop because of a storm. Fans kept the party going even out in the rain in the parking lot. Once the storm cleared, fans were allowed to re-enter the festival grounds and the music resumed.
Bad Religion stepped out onto the stage, not even missing a beat as they charged into their frenetic set. On the other side of the fest Matt & Kim bounced around on stage, riling the soaking wet crowd with their infectious pop and confetti bursts. AWOLNATION and Blink-182 closed out the festival amidst even more rain, turning the festival ground into a muddy dance party that still probably some of us cleaning mud off ourselves.
If there is one thing that we know, its that there ain’t no party like a Riot Fest party. The rain was pouring down so hard that we weren’t able to capture Blink-182 but have plenty of other photos for you to check out! Plus, keep an eye out for some of the interviews we did with some of the Riot Fest lineup over the weekend.
