I associate camouflage with a couple of things, such as the Destiny Child’s “Survivor” music video or this one outfit in particular that I wore to my seventh grade dance. But now, to be honest, I’m kind of digging a subtle, faded camo print.
I first saw camouflage cargo pants make a comeback on one of my gal pals which she wore as a sort of neutral. She wore the skinny fit with a chambray top, combat boots and sunnies. Feeding off her inspiration I’d do the same for a day look with my fave “Bad News Babes” tee from Feather Hearts, leather jacket and white Converse or mix & match patterns with a sailor-inspired striped top.
My own first camo purchase was a button down that I bought two sizes larger to wear as a lightweight jacket. It looks great when worn with dark denim and over a graphic tee, like this monster tee from Top Shop. Find a similar jacket here which you can also throw over a white sundress to toughen it up.
The camouflage print has been incorporated into my own closet as a staple layering piece and I’ve worn it both during the day, as seen below, or at night with a pair of leather skinny pants. The print itself doesn’t have to be overwhelmed with excessive accessories but rather fits with a bold red lip or a solid watch, like this Tokyo Bay one.
Would you wear camo as an everyday piece? Or, are you over it?
