VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Jungle at Austin City Limits 2018

UK band Jungle kicked off early 2018 performing at Coachella and a short run of tour dates to play some of their new material and have been on a roll since. The band released their sophomore album, For Ever on September 14th via XL Recordings, which features lead tracks, “Heavy California” and “Cherry”, both of which have already garnered millions of online streams. The band’s founders Josh “J” Lloyd-Watson and Tom “T” McFarland describe the mix of sounds on the album as “a post-apocalyptic radio station playing break up songs.” J and T spent much time in the Hollywood Hills to write and record material that is described as their “romanticization of The California Dream clashed with the reality of living it”. The band made quite an impression after the release of their self-titled debut album in 2014. Their songs spread through positive reviews, online sharing and millions of streams for the singles “Platoon”, “Busy Earnin'”, “Time”, “The Heat” and “Julia”. Early on, the production and multi-instrumentalist duo never expected to leave their bedroom studios, far less become the core of a talent-filled seven-strong collective that morphed into a popular and entertaining live outfit. The band would proceed to garner a Mercury Music Prize nomination for the album, favorable reviews for their live shows and a shout-out from Noel Gallagher, who declared the album “f*cking amazing”.

B-Sides met up with J and T of Jungle to talk about their experience at Austin City Limits, living in California while making For Ever and more. Check out the interview:
