VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Gang of Youths at Austin City Limits 2018

As with its American counterpart, MTV Australia started production on all-new episodes of the Grammy and Emmy award-winning series MTV Unplugged, with the first feature artist, Gang Of Youths. Filmed in front of a live audience at Melbourne’s Cobblestone Pavilion at Meat Market, the band performed stripped-back versions of songs from their latest album, Go Farther in Lightness that was released in 2017. The performance made quite an impression and the recording, MTV Unplugged Live in Melbourne, will be released on October 26, 2018. The longevity of the material speaks volumes to the band’s artistry, as they’ve already won numerous ARIA Music Awards including, Album Of The Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album and Producer of the Year (Gang of Youths & Adrian Breakspear). Gang Of Youths are currently on a run of arena dates with Foo Fighters which already included sets at Cal Jam.

B-Sides met up with Dave Le’aupepe and Joji Malani before their performance at Austin City Limits to talk about their time in the city at SXSW, their experience in recording the MTV Unplugged session and more. Check out the interview:
