VIDEO: INTERVIEW – Fickle Friends Talk Refining Sound Before U.S. Debut

British indie-pop group Fickle Friends has been a band since 2013, with core members Natti Shiner and Sam Morris having met as students at the Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts. The two would later meet the rest of the band members, Harry Herrington, Chris Hall and Jack Wilson at BIMM Brighton music college and it wasn’t long until the band found their sound. Winning a performing spot at celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s music festival, the experience and continuous touring and gigging around Europe would enable the band to grow a loyal and dedicated fanbase throughout Europe. Over the course of the next few years, Fickle Friends would refine their sound and work on their live shows while releasing a couple of EPs, Velvet (2015) and Glue (2017). The band waited until the release of the debut full-length, You Are Someone Else, to embark on their first U.S. tour and immediately sold out numerous American dates. The album has garnered critical acclaim for its melodies and lyrical content that speaks to a wide range of relevant topics from toxic friendships, feelings of worthlessness, slippery relationships, mental health and a lot of other overwhelming emotions felt during young adulthood and young adult relationships.

Natti, Harry and Jack from Fickle Friends spoke with B-Sides about their experiences touring the U.S., how the debut album came about, working with producer Mike Crossey(The 1975) and more. Check out the interview and the acoustic version of “Glue”:
